We are cognizant of the fact that development in Africa is a complex arena with multiple players within the development chain.

We take a unique approach of creating a culture of practice in use of knowledge and research evidence, policy, data and analytics in policy making, resource allocation and implementation as action response to a solution to development needs of Africa.

Our long bridge from knowledge, policy and research evidence to action provides leverage to sustainable development by connecting knowledge from research evidence, understanding of policy and existing scattered action responses and aligning them to development needs through actions.

We strengthen existing systems of development needs’ responses, capacity building, innovations and implementation of activities and development of systems in the areas of development governance advocacy, education, mentorship, life skills development for children, youth and by extension foster the environment within the wider community which they thrive.

We also advocate for the prioritization of evidence in decision-making processes as well as strengthen institutional and individual capacities of development chain participants in enabling evidence-informed development responses. We employ the following strategies in our approach:

Translating policies, research findings, data and analytics to inform development interventions

We analyze existing data, policies and research findings, undertake in-depth work focused on specific development players and conduct comparative transnational and regional data analyses to ensure that decision-makers have the knowledge backup they need to formulate and implement effective development responsive programmes. In particular, we seek to identify opportunities to improve the quality and reach of development initiatives to under-served populations.

 Providing signature development services directly to development chain participants

ACKPID goes beyond the conventional models to provide direct development services as signature programs to serve as models to other development chain actors. We, for example, provide support to learning institutions to develop their pre-primary education services, support learning institutions to enhance their career guidance and counseling departments. We also train school graduates in soft skills such as team skills, communication skills and other relevant skills so they are better equipped to deliver their contributions to the development initiatives they become part of.

Integrating development chain participants for appropriate response to development needs. 

Due to the fact that we work hand-in-hand with all levels of development participants from communities, research organizations, learning institutions, governments and development organizations and decision-makers while providing signature programme interventions, we ensure a complete conveyance of output from one stage initiatives to infirm the next development stage. This understanding extends beyond our focal signature programme intervention areas to a wide spectra of development activities.

Building capacity for appropriate development needs response

To ensure sustainability, we identify existing development needs interventions and enhance them, develop them and strengthen them for posterity to the owners. We achieve this through technical assistance and comprehensive training and mentorship programmes that develops the resilience, capacity and scope of existing interventions for future needs of development. We also strengthen the capacity and skills of development intermediaries in undertaking development activities.

We will deliver our mandate through partnerships. We will partner with learning institutions, government institutions, development partners, donors and other development chain actors.
